New beta 2 version for Firefox 3.1
Mozilla firefox 3.1 beta 2 version review – The beta 2 of Firefox 3.1 was released yesterday. It provides a slightly more accurate picture of what the final version of the browser in the Mozilla Foundation.
Two improvements are immediately visible to the user: the arrival of a private navigation mode to surf without a trace on the PC during the life of a specific window of your browser and activation Javascript new engine, called TraceMonkey. A bit like the V8 Google Chrome engine browser, TraceMonkey is responsible for compiling the JavaScript code as soon as it receives them, then to run much faster than in the classical interpretation line by line. The result is a significant acceleration of pages heavily loaded with code that make web applications to Google Docs.
There are also pre DNS: while the user reads a page, Firefox handles in the background to verify the addresses of other links of the page to go faster when they are clicked.
Note also that we can finally detach the tabs, and Firefox 3 will include tags <audio> and <video> HTML 5, and can play multimedia files without the need to use a plug-in.
The module that handles the extensions is normally frozen: developers can already work to be ready at the exit of the final version.
The final version of Firefox is planned for early 2009 but no date is officially pronounced. When asked, the president of Mozilla Europe Tristan Nitot prefers to answer with a joke typical of free software “when it comes out it will be ready” …
