Research in Motion (RIM) remains true to its target but professional look increasingly to the general public, which now constitutes almost half of its customers. And all was good in the first quarter to seduce the public.

blackberry_curveA study by NPD Group shows that Research in Motion has sold more appliances Blackberry Curve (83xx) United States since January as did Apple with its iPhone. In fact, RIM occupies three of the first five places in the ranking of the most popular smartphones last three months.

“The Curve, familiar and less expensive (than other competing models), benefited from the promotion and was able to surpass the iPhone, thanks to its distribution by the four major U.S. telephone companies,” said NPD analyst Ross Rubin.

The iPhone, meanwhile, is bound by an exclusive contract with the only AT & T.

Finally the study confirms that in a market for mobile phones has reached a plateau, the MFDs are porters, now representing 23% of laptop sales, against 17% in first quarter 2008.

“Despite economic difficulties, consumers are moving towards the aircraft to go on the internet to access more information and entertainment on the go,” said Rubin.

The Apple iPhone 3G, faster version of the first device in the range, was launched in July. He was head of sales in the third and fourth quarter 2008.
